Funky Finds Spring Fling is THIS SATURDAY in Fort Worth-- Will Rogers Memorial Center from 10am to 6pm.

In addition to the Dallas Craft Mafia-- you'll be able to stroll & shop over 100 vendors! A Family Friendly- Pet Friendly show-- they'll even have a food vendor there so you can snack & shop the day away!! They'll be having a really great raffle that supports several local charities-- and be working with the Humane Society to adopt out some pets...

This show is going to be WONDERFUL-- and it is a great way to see a ton of your favorite local indie artists & designers! Come early & get your raffle tickets-- the FIRST 50 people to purchase a raffle ticket will get one of 50 handmade tote bags (made by the DCM-yay) filled to the rim with super gifts & goodies! Definitely worth wayyyy more than the price of a ticket!!

We are just blocks west of the Bishop Arts District, and right next door to Mighty Fine Arts. Google maps can make it tricky....so here are directions.

From downtown Dallas, take 30 west exit Sylvin (Main post office exit) take a left onto Sylvin and go up the hill into the cliff. You will cross over Davis and make a Left onto 10th street. Make another left onto Tyler.

We are going to be Mentor Madres!!!

We are so excited about the Art Chicas Unidas program run by our pals over at La Reunion. The Dallas Craft Mafia will be sponsoring a girl for this upcoming art event. Check it out!!!

WHAT IS IT - ART CHICAS UNIDAS
Small teams of high school aged girls will work with professional women artists selected by jury and create one of a kind art works based on materials from our 35 acres site in Oak Cliff. The finished art works will be on display that same evening and all proceeds from sales go back into the Art Chicas Unidas program. What makes this program unique? This year we are working with Deaf Action Center, socio-economically challenged schools as well as girls that are getting the full art experience like at Booker T. We engage all walks of life and backgrounds and introduce new skills and interests, from photography to guitar to encaustic.

We will honor our Mentor Madres this year with your names across our invitational postcard to the reception. Even if you can't make the reception November 8, please support this program today. Download the form and mail or email back. Deadline Oct 18 to be on the card! Don't delay!

Our Night at the Museum

 

On September 19, 2008 the Dallas Craft Mafia had the privilege of being invited to demonstrate their wicked talents at the Dallas Museum of Arts Late Nights. If you haven't been to the once month event you are missing out. Open till midnight the museum was buzzing with music, family crafts from recycled items, an interactive art exhibit, movies and demonstrations by local artists.

The DCM showed their stuff with sewing, crochet and jewelry making. Julie, Judy and Whitney sewed some sweet treats for the fall with pumpkins and scarves. Jacky crocheted fall inspired wrist bands and Amber created her one of a kind earrings.

It was great to get to talk with people and answer questions and pass out a little advice on how anyone can create their own art. Having children get involved and get inspired was a big bonus for us all.
